A$60.00

This speedy shark was drawn with graphite pencils on 8”x11” Canson card based on the photo referenced with permission from oceanic Italian photographer Filippo Borghi.

The shortfin mako shark (Isurus oxyrinchus) is a large mackerel shark in the Lamnidae family (the same family as the famous Great White shark). Mako sharks are known to be the fastest sharks in the world, reaching speeds of roughly 40km/h (25mph) with bursts recorded to 74km/h (46mph). They use this speed to hunt mackerels such as tunas and swordfish, but have also been known to eat other sharks, sea turtles, seabirds and porpoises. As of 2019, the mako shark is currently listed as Endangered by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature).

These prints are professionally processed and reproduced on textured cotton paper with archival inkjet to ensure that they show every pencil stroke and mark like the original artwork.
