HOW DOES THIS WORK?
1) Within two business days of making the booking, Helen Grey will contact you with the email you have provided. Contact will usually be made same day if applicable. If you do not hear from her within five business days please use the contact form to reach out, or one of her social media platforms (listed at the bottom of this site) and check that the email you supplied at the time of booking was correct. If Helen Grey can not make contact with you to arrange your commission booking she will move on to the next booking and your order may be refunded less a processing fee (10%).

2) Helen Grey will seek confirmation from you what commission you would like to order: size, medium, framed or unframed etc. Details on these options can be seen in the pricing guide, or discussed with Helen if you wish for something more unique and bespoke.

3) Helen Grey will require photo(s) that she will work with. These need to be clear, preferably taken at the subject’s eye level, and with at least one true-to-colour example (photos taken indoors can be darker or of a different tonal value than ones taken outside in natural sunlight). Helen can assist in explaining what types of photos work best. If your commission request involves an animal that you do not have photo access to, please inform Helen and she will advise if she can acquire the appropriate reference photos. For custom orders, Helen will provide you with a digital mock up sketch or photo edit to confirm.
IMPORTANT:
COPYRIGHT NOTE: Photos supplied and used for the artwork MUST have copyright ownership or permission of either the client or artist, Helen Grey. In the cases of a client supplying photos taken by a third party such as a professional photographer, Helen will not use them for reference unless she has copyright permission from that photographer. If you wish to use photographer’s images, please supply Helen Grey with the photographer’s details so that she can acquire the copyright permissions she needs. It is both copyright law and policy in making this booking, that copyright is acquired by the artist direct from the copyright holder.
HELEN GREY IS NO LONGER TAKING LARGE HUMAN SUBJECT BOOKINGS. Please contact her first with the contact form to discuss large (3+) human subject based portraits before paying for this booking.

4) Once details are confirmed, Helen Grey will send you payment options and a contract to the email provided. This is for you to review to ensure booking details have been recorded correctly and terms are understood.

5) We can start! Once final payment is made and the contract has been returned and confirmed as correct, your commission will be started at Helen’s next available job slot. Helen can give a rough idea when your order could begin, however this may be moved if she works through orders quicker than anticipated or if any orders are more extensive than others. If you have a time you would like the artwork completed by (such as in time for an event such as a birthday or anniversary) then please notify Helen during the planning stage (steps 1-3). Helen can then inform you if that date is a realistic one to be met in light of her current bookings.
