"Diving Platypus," Limited Edition prints
"Diving Platypus," Limited Edition prints
This drawing was completed with Faber Castell Polychromos and Prismacolor premier pencils on 225gsm white card. Unlike Helen’s other works, this piece was drawn freehand with reference made to platypus videos and various imagery of the animal. Helen’s main goal here was to outline not just platypus diving and foraging behaviour, but also key features such as the shape of their opened webbed foot and the poisonous barb on the hind ankle of the males. These prints are reproduced with the finest quality inks and professional processing to ensure that they show every pencil stroke and mark like the original artwork. Platypus’ are a monotreme mammal, meaning that they not only have a basic form of milk supply which ooze through the skin for their young, but they also lay eggs. These unique features are shared by only one other class of animal, also found in Australia: the echidna.
This piece is available as limited number (25) prints, printed on archival quality eco friendly Hahnemuhle Bamboo card. Each print comes hand signed and numbered, with it’s own unique Certificate of Authenticity. Print size without frame is approximately 8"x11" (A4 portrait) or 11”x16” (A3 portrait).
