"Pademelon Peek," Limited Edition print
"Pademelon Peek," Limited Edition print
Featured in this artwork is a red-bellied pademelon. Photos taken to reference for the artwork were shot at Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation park by the artist, Helen Grey. Sadly pademelons are no longer seen in the wild on the mainland of Australia, and can only be seen in captivity or the wilds of Tasmania. Habitat loss and predation of feral species such as cats and foxes are the main culprits in the extinction in the wild in those areas. Pademelons are similar to rabbits in size, however closer in relation to other marsupials such as kangaroos.
